The rule of Duonaris

Both or nothing.

Every child born in Duonaris is a twin: one warrior, one mage, and a telepathic thread between them. You control both as one consciousness. Every gate, every door needs both of them standing at it. That's the mechanic, and that's the whole game.

Kael

The mage

Her staff carries the only magic. She moves slower than her brother, but she sees what he doesn't — what the fire is actually trying to do.

The thread

The twinbond

Their shared mind, drawn on screen and brightening as they drift apart. Every gate is locked against a single body. The thread is what makes them one.

Torvin

The warrior

His sword is ready first. He reaches every door ahead of his sister, and not one of them will open for him alone. He learns to wait.

The door out of the burning house will not open for one of them. Neither will the road east. Every gate in the game asks for both.
